Jelena Karišik
Inner Structures

prints

September 11th - 30th, 2017

On Monday, September 11th at 7 pm is opened the exhibition of Jelena Karišik, artist from Banja Luka.

New set of linocuts made in period between 2012 and 2017, confirms the author’s artistic credo based on creative metamorphosis of figural model (human torso) into nearly abstract graphic form. One of the well-known classical themes in art history, for this artist is only a stimulus which initiates the process of setting free the corporeality from its mass and recognizable shape and transforming it into a field of expressive game of clash/harmonizing of surfaces and colors. The rhythm of linear forms dominant in her earlier works, in new prints is changed with more freely composed fragments which often intertwine and overlap creating layered graphic image.

Jelena Karišik (1973. Sarajevo) graduated in 1997. from Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, where she finished postgraduate studies in 2001. At same the Faculty she is preparing her PhD thesis. She is member of Association of Visual Artists of Serbia. Since 1997. she had many solo exhibitions and participated in numerous exhibitions (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Slovenia, Romania, France, USA). She won several prizes for accomplishments in fields of painting and graphic art.
